Power systems modelling
& studies partner to
ET Fuels.
Velon Energy delivers the full cycle of PSCAD and PowerFactory power-system modelling, design and EMT analysis for ET Fuels — the developer behind one of the world's most innovative Power-to-X programmes, including the first-mover e-methanol project on the US Gulf Coast and the parallel eSAF (Methanol-to-Jet) pathway.
From co-located renewables
to e-methanol and eSAF.
The first-mover wave
of Power-to-X
is being built now.
Power-to-X is moving from concept to commissioned plant. A small cohort of developers worldwide is taking final investment decisions on the first commercial-scale facilities — each posing power-system engineering questions the industry has never had to answer at this scale.
ET Fuels — Texas e-methanol
First-mover commercial-scale e-methanol facility on the US Gulf Coast, with the parallel eSAF (Methanol-to-Jet) pathway. Currently in FEED.
NL · EemshavenDjewels — Power2X & partners
20 MW Dutch green hydrogen project with FID taken; alkaline electrolyser deployment in partnership with John Cockerill — entering construction phase.
PT · SinesMadoquaPower2X — Iberia
Renewables-to-fuels integrated complex in Portugal, combining co-located wind & solar with electrolysis and downstream green ammonia / methanol production.
EUEuropean Energy — Kassø, eMethanol
Commercial e-methanol plant in Denmark, supplying maritime and chemical off-takers — part of a multi-site European e-fuels portfolio.
These are independent industry projects, not Velon engagements — shown to place our ET Fuels work in context. What unites them: very large, fast-ramping electrolyser loads; co-located renewable generation; weak-grid or islanded operating modes; and converter-dense electrical systems whose dynamic behaviour falls squarely in Velon Energy's specialism.
Full cycle. From single-line
to EMT validation.
Velon Energy delivers the power systems modelling and analysis spine for ET Fuels' Power-to-X programme. Our engineers own every step from initial single-line concept through to detailed EMT studies and FEED-stage validation.
PSCAD & PowerFactory modelling
End-to-end model build for co-located renewables, electrolyser load profiles, BOP infrastructure and synthesis plant electrical systems.
EMT & RMS analysis
Detailed EMT studies for converter interaction, weak-grid performance, control-mode stability and transient response. RMS dynamic studies for steady-state and contingency assessment.
Grid integration & compliance
Grid-code compliance, harmonic studies, FRT/LVRT, protection coordination, and reactive power planning — across each phase of the project as the connection envelope evolves.
FEED engineering support
Live engineering partner during front-end engineering design — power-systems input to converter selection, connection topology decisions and risk reviews.
Power-to-X depth, in
one of the world's most-watched
first-mover programmes.
ET Fuels is building the first-mover infrastructure for a credible Power-to-X economy — converting renewable electricity into the chemicals that decarbonise shipping, aviation and heavy industry. The scale and novelty of these projects puts unusual demands on the underlying power systems engineering. That is exactly where Velon Energy operates.
Large electrolyser loads, co-located renewables and dynamic synthesis processes create some of the hardest grid-integration questions in the industry: weak-grid behaviour, converter-converter interaction, harmonic limits at high penetration, and protection schemes that must remain robust through every operating mode.
Velon Energy combines deep PSCAD and PowerFactory expertise with the Python tooling needed to run these studies repeatably and auditably — at the pace FEED engineering demands. The result is the same engineering quality the transmission community expects, applied to projects that did not exist a decade ago.
